Jacob Mayer founded Mayer Bros. Cider Mill in West Seneca, NY 1852. He purchased a locally operated apple pressing mill from the Ebenezers, a religious community which later moved to Iowa and formed the well-known Amana Colony.

The original focus of the Mill was to service local farmers and families, who would bring apples from their orchards to be pressed into cider.

During the 1920's, the Mayer Bros. adapted to Western New York's urbanization by expanding the Mill's offerings to include baked goods, maple syrup and other food items. Eventually, the Mayers produced their own brand of apple cider.

The Mill's offerings of apple products continued to grow. In 1936, Mayer Bros. introduced hard cider.

In 1938, Jacob Mayer's three grandsons - Earl, Elmer and Allen - took over the family business from Jacob's son John. Today, Mayer Bros. continues to be privately owned and operated by Jacob Mayer's great-grandson John Mayer.

In the 1980's, Mayer Bros. greatly expanded their beverage offerings by introducing an entire line of natural juices including apple, grape, orange, fruit punch, grapefruit, cranberry juice cocktail, sweet cider and hot-filled cider, and iced tea.

Flash pasteurization has been used for the past 16 years on all cider products. This unique process of pasteurization guarantees customer satisfaction, safety and freshness.

In 1985, Mayer Bros. purchased a state-of-the-art processing facility in Barker, NY, adding 125,000 square feet to the company's pre-existing production and storage base. Today, more than 200 employees work for Mayer Bros. at the West Seneca and Barker locations.

Mayer Bros. continued the expansion of their beverage business in 1990 by launching a new category of products - bottled spring water. In 1997, the company introduced fluoridated spring water.

In late 1996, Mayer Bros. moved its corporate headquarters to the former Pellamwood House, located on Transit Road adjacent to the original Mill property in West Seneca.

On April 26, 2000, Mayer Brothers expanded its Home & Office Market to Ohio.

More than 10,000 people visit the historic Mayer Bros. Cider Mill during September through December where they can taste samples of the delicious cider, and purchase a variety of other products including: Doughnuts, Pastries and Apple Pies (baked fresh daily at the Mill), Natural Jellies, Maple Syrup, & Cheese Candies.
